Olympic Gold medal winners Matt Gotrel and Laura Collette appear in the photo and they just happen to be former CCS students! What fantastic achievements. Matt won his Gold in the rowing for the men’s eights at the Rio Olympics in 2016, in addition to achieving back-to-back World Championship titles in rowing.
Laura is a British Event Rider who won a team Gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics this year. In an interview with Horse and Hound she describes standing on the podium to receive her Gold “as a completely surreal experience”. Laura started her competitive equestrian career at the age of 13 and has won an array of medals along the way.
We hope to feature them both in a Q&A and we’re very grateful to Matt for talking to some of our younger students recently about his career. When the eventing calendar is not quite so busy we hope Laura can join us too.
